Professional Experience
Larry Costich joined Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in 2008. His practice focuses on litigation and transactional matters in the areas of land use, environmental, natural resources and manufacturing, real estate, and construction law. He has represented private and public clients in attaining and defending land use development permits, acquiring natural resource properties and water rights, addressing environmental remediation of impaired properties under state and federal laws, and negotiating construction contract provisions and dispute resolution. He has also advised clients on enforcement of land use and environmental provisions addressing regulatory compliance and natural resource protection.

Before practicing law, Mr. Costich worked for 16 years as a civil and environmental consulting engineer, in which he managed property restoration and development, environmental site assessments and due-diligence investigations, and compliance with environmental regulations. As a registered professional engineer, Mr. Costich possesses a strong technical background of environmental regulations, and extensive knowledge of regional, state, federal, and international regulatory compliance procedures. He has represented clients in negotiations with regulatory and municipal agencies on permitting and enforcement orders. Examples of this include storm water/process water discharge permits for several lumber mills in Oregon and Washington, MTCA/RCRA Corrective Action Agreed Order for a major Puget Sound manufacturing plant, and remediation of impaired properties and hazardous waste sites. Moreover, he has supervised technical staff in the fields of regulatory interpretation, environmental compliance and permitting, engineering design, geology and hydrogeology, and ecological and human health risk assessments. Prior to joining Schwabe, Mr. Costich was an attorney at Graham & Dunn, where he represented and advised individual and company clients in connection with a wide array of land use, environmental, and real estate matters.

Professional & Community Activities
Mr. Costich is currently a member of the American Bar Association, Environment, Energy & Resource and Construction Law Sections, along with the King County Bar Association, Environmental Law Section, Environmental and Water Resource Institute, and National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, Government Affairs Committee. He is Co-Chair of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Government Affairs Committee (Seattle Section), and secretary of the Architects and Engineers Legislative Council Washington. He is currently a Registered Professional Engineer in the states of Washington, Idaho, and Virginia.
